As Slumber Arrives One wears shoes to protect one's feet. Millions of pairs of shoes are manufactured. One chooses a pair from them. The pair of shoes creates a history as one walks. I cast used shoes. Each one carries a tag with the owner's information, such as occupation. On the tag, age occupies the spot where we usually see the size, The naphthalene vaporizes, leaving the tag alone at the end. All is uncertain. Each one of us has our own flow of time, which can never be shared with anyone else. |
